Product Design & Development

Turn your idea into a product that’s designed to work, built to last, and ready for manufacturing.

From Idea to Real Product, Built the Right Way

You have an idea. Maybe it’s sketched out. Maybe it’s been sitting in your head for a while.

But turning that idea into something real? That’s where things usually get stuck.

At InterLink Engineering, we help you move from concept to a product that’s actually ready to be built. Not just something that looks good on a screen, but something that works in the real world.

From early design to prototyping and production support, we stay involved so your product doesn’t fall apart between stages.

What We Do

We support the full product design and development process, including:

Concept Development

CAD Modeling

Design for Manufacturing

Prototyping & Testing

How The Process Works

When to Use Product Design & Development

  • You have an idea but no drawings

  • Your current design isn’t working the way it should

  • You need help getting to a prototype

  • You’re preparing for manufacturing

  • You want to reduce cost or improve performance

What You’ll Walk Away With

  • A fully developed CAD model

  • Prototypes (if needed)

  • Manufacturing-ready drawings

  • A design that’s ready to move forward

FAQs

What does product design and development include?

At InterLink Engineering, product design and development includes bringing an idea for a product into something that can be manufactured at scale

I only have an idea. Can you still help?

Yes! InterLink Engineering can typically help at any stage of product development, from building out an idea all the way to polishing a design for large-scale manufacturing

How long does product development take?

Product development timing varies depending on the complexity of the product, for very simple items, it may just be a couple months to get an idea ready for manufacturing, or for items with multiple moving parts and precise geometry, the full process of designing, testing on multiple levels, and dialing in a product may take a couple years or longer, not including time for patenting.

How much does product design cost?

Much like the timing, product design depends a lot on product complexity. If a product is simple and requires very little prototype testing for something 3D-printed, costs could start in the low thousands of dollars or if the product being developed is complex with multiple moving parts, precise geometry, and specialized materials, the cost could be into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Yes! InterLink Engineering believes in rapid prototyping using cost-effective additive manufacturing methods so designs can be tested and tweaked quickly then, as a design finalizes, moving to real-material prototypes, which we can source and create in-house.

Yes! InterLink Engineering specializes in design for manufacturing with the intent that parts are ready to be manufactured in the method best suited to the product goals, including quantities, materials, and hardiness.

Do I have to sell a product to get product development?

No, product development is a common term, but InterLink can help with the development of ideas dealing with small kitchen fixes to large custom equipment, whether you share it or not.
