Mechanical Design Engineer/Technician
InterLink Engineering, LLC supports a wide variety of industries with a primary focus on product development, reverse engineering, and design for manufacturing support. Our capabilities allow for us to support our customers by either performing engineering tasks at our facility or at our customer sites as required.
We’re internally looking for a low- to mid-level Mechanical Designer or Engineer who will be heavily involved in hands-on manufacturing activities. Prior experience in product development or manufacturing, as well as 3D modeling and 2D drawing using SolidWorks would be a perfect starting point.
Responsibilities:
Design new products from scratch and make improvements to existing products using SolidWorks computer-aided design (CAD) under the guidance of Senior Engineers
Quickly transform ideas and rough sketches of designs into 3D models, then into working detailed 2D engineering drawings in SolidWorks
Collaborate and keep projects confidential within a team
Construct, assemble, and test prototypes, incorporating design changes and supporting procurement activities
Troubleshoot issues with products or automation equipment
Analyze data, review drawings for completeness, and conduct design reviews with product management and suppliers to gain final approval
Support Lean and Quality initiatives to reduce variability in designs
Assist with product launches in a production environment through installation, manual writing, training, and quality inspections

Required Characteristics:
Highly proficient in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, engineering drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) management
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience building prototypes and using hand and power tools
Working knowledge of mechanical systems, fasteners, and manufacturing methods
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar field, or equivalent experience
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and across departments to progress projects
Adaptable, dependable, and safety-conscious
Local, Greater Phoenix resident with reliable transportation
Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Preferred Characteristics:
Operating experience with 3D printer, CNC mill, and press brake
Motivated, self-starter with the ability to learn quickly
Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) Machine building or automation experience
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies
Understands wiring diagrams and wiring moderately complex machinery
Semi-professional welding skills
Knowledgeable in ASME Y14.100 and ASME-Y14.5 GD&T drawing and tolerance standards
Tool and fixture design experience
CFD Analysis experience
