Contract Expert

Definition:

In a contract (or contract-to-hire) arrangement, an employee is initially hired on a temporary or contractual basis managed fully by your company. The employment period typically has a predetermined duration, such as three, six, or twelve months. During this period, the employee works as a contractor or consultant for InterLink Engineering.

Why:

The primary purpose of a contract arrangement is to fill a position with short-term expectations such as an atypical project. Likewise, contract-to-hire accommodations allow evaluation of a candidate's fit with the company and their job performance before making a long-term commitment. Employers use this option when they want to assess a candidate's skills, work ethic, and compatibility with the company culture before offering permanent employment.

Employee Status:

Employees in contract positions are considered temporary or contract workers during the set contract period (duration differs per client). They will receive the same benefits and job security as a permanent InterLink employee. If the contractor’s position becomes a contract-to-hire situation, once the contract has been completed, they will transition to full-time status.

Hiring Process:

The hiring process for contract positions at InterLink Engineering is designed for efficiency and effectiveness. We begin by carefully evaluating candidates to ensure a strong match. This process, while thorough, is often faster and less rigorous than direct hires. InterLink will submit the resume and results of SolidWorks test of a candidate to the hiring manager. The hiring manager will determine a time to have a proper introduction/interview with the candidate. Once the hiring manager completes the interview, they will determine whether the candidate is a good fit for the position or request additional resumes. If the hiring manager wants to move forward, InterLink Engineering will have the candidate arrive onsite along with a CAD Workstation, property of InterLink Engineering, if requested. This process ensures that only the most suitable candidates move forward, guaranteeing an excellent match for your company's needs.

Compensation:

With InterLink, your company has 16 hours to decide whether the employee is someone you want to keep working with. Contract employees will be compensated through InterLink Engineering. Your company pays InterLink a field-contract rate by the hour, typically invoiced weekly, following when the time was completed. The company will not be required to provide additional direct pay, benefits, or other benefits to the InterLink employee.

Termination and Transition:

At the end of the contract period, the employer has the option to terminate the contract, extend it, or convert the employee to a permanent role based on their performance and company needs.

In the unlikely event the candidate does not perform their duties well during the contracted timeframe, the hiring manager has the ability to no longer request the services of that candidate. InterLink will provide a replacement candidate to finish out the remaining time of the contract or start a new contract day one of the replacement candidate.

If the employee performs well, generally contracts can be extended indefinitely or your company may offer them a more permanent position directly with your company.
